A commonly asked question answered...
As the project grows, I seem to get asked this question ... (hey, it's an honest question)... "Lexie, why are you doing this?" Not because they think I am doing anything wrong, but if I'm not doing this through church, or an organization, then what's up with this project? Well, here it is, plain and simple... Because I can...because why not..? - No, I don't have cancer... But I have friends, and friends of friends who have fought it or have been affected by it somehow. Also, I'm not going to say that I know so much about it, because the truth is... I don't. But the stories I have heard from my "customers" who buy the headbands and wristbands in honor of themselves or someone that they know, I learn so much from them and it inspires me to keep going with the project. And sure, I get some self satisfaction, and I am proud of myself, I'm not going to lie to you guys. But this project isn't about me. Even if I am making a difference, well hey that's cool... but I see it more of "a difference is being made"....and something is being done about it. I'm a strong believer in the quote... "Be the change you want to see in the world." I know that my project isn't going to cure cancer...but I feel that any action one takes, no matter how big or small is an action towards something greater. So overall, I wouldn't say the mission statement is "donating money to cure cancer," but rather "donating money to HELP the goal of curing cancer."

Cancer Awareness Months
So since we are a cancer fundraiser, we are working hard to try and recognize the cancer awareness months. This month has many, but this month is Leukemia, Lymphoma, and Ovarian Cancer awareness month. We're definitely going to promote our Lymphoma, since we have MANY green shirts and will make green headbands this week! We're also going to look our supply of orange for Leukemia, and see if we have any teal for Ovarian. We'll be looking at the amount of pink for Breast Cancer and look into Liver cancer. http://www.choosehope.com/calendar-of-cancer-awareness-months

Selling at St. Therese thoughts
So today I sold the headbands at St. Therese, a church in the next town to where I live, which also happens to be the one I joined about half of a year ago! I will admit, I was a little bit nervous, not knowing if everyone was going to be away for the Labor Day weekend. I got there very early, about an hour early to set up my table and everything, and at 11:30 am, a swarm of people came over to my table. It was a bit overwhelming at first, but in a good way. I was so excited to see my church family interesting in my project, buying headbands, and even giving donations! I sold after the 10:30 and Noon Mass. Both times were great and people asked me to come back, which I will be arranging hopefully for this month, and if not, then definitely for October! It was so much fun selling, and I am excited to sell again soon!
What I'll be working on for this month:
